Fue presidente del Consejo de Indias y gracias a sus documentados informes el rey Felipe V firm\u00f3 el decreto del traslado de la Casa de contrataci\u00f3n a C\u00e1diz. Esto supuso que la ciudad se enriqueciera extraordinariamente. La cuesti\u00f3n no fue f\u00e1cil porque Sevilla trat\u00f3 en todo momento de que ese traslado no se produjese. Es pues el \u00faltimo responsable de que se construyera la Casa de las Cuatro Torres.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Admiral born in C\u00e1diz. President of the Consejo de Indias (Council of the Indies). Thanks to his documented reports, King Felipe V signed the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Casa de Contrataci\u00f3n decree transferring \u2013 the commercial centre for trade with the Indies- to Cadiz. This meant that the city became extremely rich. This was an important accomplishment as Seville tried to stop the transfer by every means available. An Illustrious sailor, he was a cartographer, astronomer, professor of mathematics, and published a naval dictionary and a manual of military instruction. He died heroically at Trafalgar commanding the Saint John Nepomuk ship. We named a room for him because in 1789 he sail from Cadiz commanding a fleet to carry out an extraordinary scientific expedition that is still remembered today. During the voyage the members of the expedition made cartographic, ethnographic, botanical and, astronomical studies. Posteriormente fue nombrado Membro del Consejo de la Regencia (en 1810). Vivi\u00f3 desde entonces en C\u00e1diz.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Born in Cartagena in 1750, he joined the Army at 17 years old and took part in the defence of C\u00e1diz against the British squadron commanded by Jervis. He was the second in command of the Spanish fleet at the battle of Trafalgar. As Gravinia (first commander) was seriously wounded in the combat, it was Esca\u00f1o who informed Godoy of the outcome of the battle. Los dos barcos que participan en la expedici\u00f3n (las corbetas \u201cAtrevida\u201d y \u201cDescubierta\u201d) se hab\u00edan construido en La Carraca. Tambi\u00e9n fund\u00f3 el Observatorio Astron\u00f3mico de C\u00e1diz. Fue miembro de la m\u00e1s prestigiosa Academia de Ciencias de Europa. He was 13 years old when for the first time he set sail for America aboard the galleon San Luis. On his return he joined the navy where he was noted for his scientific abilities. In 1735, he participated with Jorge Juan in the French scientific expedition that travelled to Quito to measure the Meridian Arc. Their excellent work and observations made a considerable contribution to the conclusions of this study.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>He founded the Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid. He also founded the Astronomical Observatory of C\u00e1diz.
