INTERIOR ROUTE
On these routes we want you to know every corner of Cadiz as a typical Cadiz would, with the cheapest and most typical places to eat, have a drink or visit.
Let's go now with the inner route, of the squares.
Following these indications you will discover the interior of this city bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
* Plaza de España: it is presided over by the Monument of the Cortes of Cádiz of 1812. It is a square open 24 hours a day and has free admission.
* Plaza de Mina: it was the old orchard of the Franciscan Convent.
..-Museum of Cádiz: the museum is located in the square itself. Its visiting hours are from Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00 and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9:00 to 14:00 on Mondays it is closed. Admission is free for citizens of the European Union and for the rest it costs 1.50€
* Plaza de San Antonio: in this square is the church of San Antonio, the Gaditano Casino, the old Banca Aramburu, the José María Pemán House Museum.
.....-The Italians: one of the best ice cream parlors in the city, where the "topolino" is typical. If we look at the church of San Antonio on the left is Calle Ancha at the beginning of this street is the ice cream parlor.
....- Casino Gaditano: emblematic building located on one of the corners of the square. It is currently a cultural institution where different events are held. Consult the website to know the schedule. On the ground floor there is a restaurant of the Velez group, highly recommended.
* Plaza Mentidero: this square gives way to the Apodaca mall. Carnival is one of the city's hot spots. There are several bars with their terraces in the square. Any of them is suitable for having a soft drink and a lid.
* Plaza del Falla: adjacent to Fragela Square. In it is the Gran Teatro Falla, a venue for the Carnival contest as well as different plays and concerts. Check the website to know the price and schedule of the shows offered.
* Central Supply Market: place where fish, meat, fruits and vegetables are purchased. If you go in the morning you will find unique pieces of fresh fish. It is very popular and advisable to visit it during business hours.
....- Market stalls: for lunch or dinner inside the old building of the market and outside the new one there are small stalls that serve food from different places. What is done is to order small portions of each stall and try the gastronomic diversity.
....- Churrería "La Guapa": when leaving the market for the square we find other stalls that open early in the morning or afternoon. They are churros stands, they are sold by weight.
* Plaza de las Flores: the colorful flower stands are what characterize this square.
....- La Marina: if you want to enjoy the churros sitting, with a good hot chocolate or a coffee we recommend this place.
* Cathedral Square: Built in the 16th century above the old Gothic cathedral. To consult both prices and schedules consult the following link as they are variable.
....- Pastelería Casa Hidalgo: an authentic Cadiz man will have tasted the empanadas of this place. It is located right in front of the Cathedral building. Both sweet and salty are worth trying.
* Town Hall Square: or Plaza de San Juan de Dios, it could be one of the main squares of the city. In it there are several bars a little more touristy.
....- El Destino: This bar has tapas and portions at more prices than walking around the house. It is located on the right if we look at the town hall building.
* Plaza de San Agustín: in this square is the church that gives it its name. The square is small but we wanted to point it out since there are several very attractive bars nearby.
....- Los Camino: very small restaurant but with typical tapas of the area. I ate one of the best cracklings here.
....- Grandma Elfrides: Argentine food.
* Plaza de Candelaria: it was a square of the Candelaria Convent. Good place to take a walk in the shade on a hot summer day.
....- Sleepwalker: fusion food, with the best local product.
* Plaza del Palillero: from this square begins the shopping area of the old town.
....- La Trapería de Columela: small or large tapas that are very economical. The place is always full. It is not located in the square, but 3 minutes on Columela Street.
* San Francisco Square: as we go up San Francisco Street we find this square, small but full of life.
....- San Francisco seafood restaurant: You can have your portion of Sanlúcar prawns next to a wine.
